The Christmas season comes upon us so quickly and goes by us in a blur. This year, we are presenting pre-Advent activities or The Advent of Advent. This is a time to grow our FAITH by planting the seeds of HOPE.
Giving Sunday on October 22nd was a great kick off for our pre-Advent events. This year we are collecting baby items for Someplace Safe, along with making tie blankets to go along with our donations. We will continue to collect items until Sunday, November 19th. Items needed are as follows, and please note all must be new: Newborn Car Seats, Pack*N*Plays, Baby Monitors, Baby Carriers, Baby Baths, Bouncers, Pacifiers , Baby Nail Clippers, Bottle Brushes, Shampoo, Soap, Lotion, Bulb Syringes, Teething Toys, Baby Brushes, Sippy Cups, Wash Clothes, Bottles (4 & 8 oz) with Matching Nipples, Onesies, Hats, Socks, Sleepers, Other Clothing, Wearable Blankets , Swaddling Blankets, Newborn Diapers, Diaper Cream, Wipes
Because of Bethlehem – In this video-based Bible study, Max Lucado explores how the One Who made everything chose to make Himself nothing and come into our world. Jesus’ birth gives us the promise that God is always near us, always for us and always within us and that we no longer need to have marks on our record. Each week is self-contained, so you can attend just one session or all three. Each week we will meet at 6 p.m. for dinner and fellowship. The study will begin after dinner, when we will watch the video followed by an interactive discussion. If you plan to attend, please sign up on the sheet in Fellowship Hall.

At Christmas, what could be more of a sign of hope than the Christmas tree? This part of our tradition is more than just a decoration but rather an evergreen reminder that the hope that is Christ is eternally reborn for each us. To help us celebrate this season of hope, we are asking all of you to provide pictures of your own Christmas trees. They can be pictures from this current holiday season or pictures from seasons past – hopefully with family members surrounding it. If you have access to a scanner, please scan a picture or two (or three or more) and email it to Advent4all@aol.com. Please include your name. If you don’t have a scanner, bring your pictures to Church and give them to Russell Zampino or Bob Stahl.

A NEW EDUCATION SERIES
will begin on the first Sunday of each month in the Parlor at 9:00 am. FPC member Mary Kilpatrick will show slides and discuss her trip with her friend through South Africa. The trip, led by Pastor Dries Coetzee, who grew up as a white Afrikaner in apartheid South Africa, was a mix of history and beauty. The historical ending to the uprising was an attempt to follow Jesus’ teachings and interrupt the cycle of violence with a Truth and Reconciliation Commission led by Bishop Desmond Tutu. Join us on November 6 to learn and enjoy the journey through photos and stories.
Church Growth is sponsoring a night at TNT, Saturday, November 5, to see our very own Amy Burd in “Mom’s Gift.” A sign-up sheet is posted in Fellowship Hall, and the deadline is October 23. The cost is $6 for the play with Church Growth paying the difference. Contact Chuck Chalker with questions at 330-883-5927.
